Teach Us To Pray

Oh God, you are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you,
my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land
where there is no water...
Because you are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings.
                                                        ( Psalm 63:1-7)

Jesus went into the wilderness to pray to seek his Father's will, so how much more do we need to ask and know the will of our heavenly Father, to enable and equip us to be Christlike and to do His will on Earth. We each need to tune into His will and not our own. We have an amazing God who delights in each one of us, and He holds us in the palm of His hand. Our God knows our thoughts, feelings, our dreams and our expectations and He longs for the best in each one of us.

Jesus teaches us to ask and we will receive, we have to cry "Abba Father". Sometimes our situations can be so desperate that we don't know how to pray, God hears our sighs and the longings of our hearts. In the Psalms David said "O Lord, consider my sighing". Our God knows what's best for us always, He is our Shepherd and our Guide. We can only get to know Jesus and hear His voice through prayer and the reading of His word. Jesus invites us to know Him intimately, our lives are a journey with Him, who else better to follow?

As well as praying privately we can encourage one another; I have personally prayed in a ‘Prayer Triplet’ where 3-4 like minded friends pray together for the Church or Community, or their own personal needs within their group. For us it was amazing and so rewarding. We each gained strength from one another and were really blessed. We lifted each other up. We all need fellowship and encouragement from one another.

Our Churches will grow spiritually when we put time aside and ask for God's guidance and help. Please think about ‘Prayer Triplets’; the experience is fun and full of blessings. If you would like to know how to start, or need encouraging further please contact me. Prayer changes things and the Lord equips us for each day.
